Troy Joseph Butler

Troy Joseph Butler passed away on July 20, 2024 at the age of 47. 

Troy was born July 6, 1977 to William Ray Butler and Vicki Peck Butler in Bakersfield, California. After he graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1995, Troy served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Mexico City, East mission. Following his mission, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from California State University, Bakersfield. 

Troy went on to have a successful 18 year long career in commercial banking, with the majority of his career spent at Wells Fargo. While at Wells Fargo, Troy earned the title of VP in commercial banking. 

Troy had a strong testimony of the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings for the church, including serving as Bishop of the Bakersfield 2nd Ward from 2014-2019. 

Troy married Amy Butler (Hutchinson), in 1999. Troy and Amy had 5 children: Ambri, Sydney, Ty, Brett, and Jase. Troy and Amy were married for 24 years. Following their divorce, Troy remarried in 2023. Troy and Alison Butler (Kaupert) were married 8 short months before Troy’s passing in 2024. 

Troy had a zest for life. He was most happy when he was serving others. He loved fresh water and could often be found on the kern river riding the white water rapids in his kayak. Troy was gifted in nearly everything he tried. He liked to play racquetball, tennis, and basketball. He loathed tomatoes and pickleball. Troy had a lot of love to give and didn’t hesitate to offer a “love ya” to his family and friends. Troy most loved his children, wife, and his savior, Jesus Christ. 

Troy was predeceased by his mother, Vicki Butler. He is survived by his Father, William Butler, his wife, Alison Butler, his siblings, Becky Abreu, Teri Walthall, Trent Butler, Mike Butler, Ceri Moore, Lindy Van Komen, Cheryl Hann, Ted Butler, his children, Ambri Ann, Sydney Corinne, Ty Joseph, Brett Michael, Jase Andrew, and his step-children, Zacharias Ayala (Z), Taylor Ayala, and Abigail Ayala. 

Memorial services for Troy will be held on August 10, 2024 at 10 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 316 A Street Bakersfield, CA 93304.
