Eugene Page Newlen November 28, 1921 - April 7, 2013 Eugene Page Newlen Nov 28, 1921 - April 7, 2013 Gene was born in Virginia but moved to Renova Pa as a young boy. Gene was raised in Pennsylvania on the Susquehanna river. He spent long days fishing the creeks and hunting the mountains in Renova. He belongs to the greatest generation. He served with honor in the US Army during WWII. After an Honorable Discharge, Gene found his way to Bakersfield CA. Bakersfield was to be home to him for the rest of his life. Gene retired from State Farm Insurance as a agent in 2001 with 39 yrs of service. Prior to State Farm he was part of the Grocers Union for a number of years. Gene was a dedicated husband and father. He was a scout leader and a little league coach for many years at Fairfax Ball Club. Gene's passion in life revolved around his love of the outdoors. He was a avid fisherman and he loved to hunt deer, hunt doves and shoot skeet. He spent many happy hours shooting at the Kern County Gun Club. A happy day to him was sharing these interests with his sons. Gene passed away with the love of his life, Marsha ,by his side. He is preceded in death by his Father Charles " Dick" Newlen and Mother Eva Jane Newlen, Brothers Charles, Carl and Jessie and Sister Virginia. He is survived by his wife Marsha, sister Dorthy " Sis", Sons Loren, Wayne, Kevin, Keith, Kyle and Kasey Newlen, Daughters Terri, Sherri and Darla and 14 grand children and 3 great grand children. We like to think he has simply Gone Hunting! Services will be at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 10:00 on Tuesday April 16, 2013.
