Viewing and visitation will start Fri. Sept. 19, 2014 6-8pm, with a meditation to follow 8-9pm in the Chapel of Alma Funeral Home & Crematory, 2130 E. California Ave., Bakersfield, Ca., 93307 for Erma Jean Hill, 79, who went to sleep in Jesus Wed. Sept. 10, 2014. Funeral Service will be held Sat. Sept. 20, 2014 at 10am at St. Peter Restoration Community Christian Ministries, 510 E. Brundage Ln. with Pastor Oscar J. Anthony officiating, interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, Ca., 93306. Erma Jean Hill is preceded in death by her grandparents Mannie and Ionia Powell, her parents Henry and Clovis Thomas, 1 sister Ionia Mackey, 1 brother Sammy Quincy Thomas, her husband James Albert Hill Sr., 3 uncles, 4 aunts, 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson, 1 grandson-in-law, and 2 great nephews. Erma Jean Hill left many loved ones to treasure her memories 6 children: 3 daughters Stephanie W. Campbell, Rachelle D. Hill, and Shontelle L. ( Rev. Wesley) Crawford; 3 sons James A. Hill Jr., Conroy V. Hill and Eric J. ( Esther) Leathers, 3 adopted children Raymond A. Tolden, Sr., Robert Tolden and Rhonda Tolden (Wayne) Benton, 1 very special niece Henrietta Mackey Wooley, a childhood friend of over 60 years Loretta Carter, 3 great nephews, 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Erma Jean will be deeply missed, but will never be forgotten by all who knew and loved her. Service entrusted to Alma Funeral Home & Crematory.
