Betty Jean Neville

March 14, 1937 — May 23, 2014 Betty passed away after a short illness in the presence of her loving family. She will be missed greatly by her husband, family and numerous friends, Betty was born in Oakland to Thomas Vance and Katherine Ketchem. Her family moved to Bakersfield when she was in grade school. She attended EBHS where she met her beloved husband of 59 years, Harold George Neville Jr. Betty worked and retired from the county Assessor's office. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she was known by all for her warm and giving nature. She served with a smile, always lifting the spirits of others. Betty touched the lives of others in many ways. She was honest, gentle and hardworking. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and shared this with others through kindness and service. She was an excellent wife and mother who provided constant support and guidance to her family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband George, her sister Kathy Duncan (Bill) and her brother Edward Ketchem, her children Gary (Diane), Karen Mijarez (Arthur), Brian (Desi), her grandchildren A. Jason, Eric , Matthew Mijarez and Quinton, Moriah and Alex Neville, and two-great-grandsons, Eric and Christian. She also leaves behind a cherished extended family and a large circle of friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all those dedicated and caring health care provider at San Joaquin ICU that gave such good care to Betty in her final days. Services to be held, Saturday, May 31, 2014, 10:00am, at LDS Church on Panorama Drive and Fairfax Road.
