David Almanza Franco

Our beloved, David A. Franco passed away on July 9, 2023. David is survived by a large

and loving family. Son Ernie Roque and his wife Maria. Son David Franco Jr., Daughter Monica

Esquer and her husband Oscar. Daughter Sarah Garcia and her husband Michael, son Daniel

Franco and daughter Jessica Franco.

David had 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his

siblings: Henry Franco, Rick Franco, Emma Gonzalez, Eloise Vasquez, Vera Pineda, Josie

Lange, Delia Corona, Ermelinda Trigo and Helen Ybarra. He is preceded in death by siblings-

Erlinda Espitia, Doris Villaros and Arthur Franco.

David was born on October 16, 1946 in Bakersfield, CA to Amelia and Jose Franco.

David spent his younger years growing up in Shafter, CA, where he made many lifelong friends,

many of whom he has kept in touch with to this day.

Later, David made Bakersfield, CA his home. Here he raised a family and spent

decades doing what he loved-paint and body works. He even opened up his own Body

Shop-Franco’s Body Works. Later, David worked many years as a groundskeeper at Shafter

High School where he retired in 2010. Lastly, he worked as a crossing guard for College

Heights Elementary, where friends and family would see him every afternoon helping young

students get home safely.

David was very creative and talented. He honed his skills over many years in the auto

body industry. Many could also see his talents in his many window displays all over Bakersfield

and surrounding areas during the Winter season. He also loved entertaining the family by

playing his favorite Beatles’ songs on the guitar.

David enjoyed being with his family, siblings and friends-especially meeting up with them

at coffee shops every morning.

David will long be remembered for being friendly-he could strike a conversation with

anyone. He was also very cheerful, reasonable, appreciative, supportive, and had the best

sense of humor. He was the life of the party and could get you laughing with his one-liners. He

had a big heart and would help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed.

A visitation for David will be held on August 6, 2023 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM, with a memorial

discourse from 11:00AM to 12:00 PM at Alma Funeral Home, 2130 E. California Ave.,

Bakersfield, CA.

A Graveside service will be held on August 7, 2023 from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM at GreenLawn
